For the best
It has been exactly one week since we made the hard decision to step off the big motor yacht and find another way to get back to Polar Seal.
Thank you all who sent us emails, tips, and offers for help. It is hard to express how grateful for all the support we have received from the community, and we will never forget all the acts of kindness we have received in the last seven days.
We have spent the best part of our time this last week sending emails, making phone calls, researching… and we finally secured a way for us and our belongings to get back to Polar Seal.
Our stuff will be put on a crate and sent to Rotterdam through a local logistic hero (the nicest, nicest guy ever) where it will be placed on a cargo ship. Thanks to our friends on SV Nunky for the contact!
After scouring the internet for crew opportunities all the way back to Curacao and talk to a lot of people, we opted for the good ol’ pressurized aluminum tube.
And because we cannot fly directly from Spain down to Curacao due to covid, we will be returning to Sweden for a couple of weeks before taking a PCR test and be back to Polar Seal before Christmas.
The whole ordeal could have tanked us financially, and we did mention selling Polar Seal for a hot second. But thanks to a combination of Patrons, the PayPal account onto which we received a few donations, Air Miles, and the help of some really good friends, we are getting out of it OK!
We are now hoping that nothing changes in terms of who can get in and out of Curacao in the next three weeks.
It has been a very hard week, but we believe this happened for a reason. New events further convinced us that we made the right decisions to both come here and pull out.
Besides, we are currently being hosted by our friends on Meho, a beautiful Saba 50, whose captain is also a Michelin star cook and has treated us to the most amazing meals since we moved onboard.
We really can't complain ;)
