Should we build our dream catamaran?

We've not kept it a secret - we're on the lookout for Polar Seal II and we want to upgrade to a catamaran because... yeah, comfort and speed.

One cost-effective option to make our dream boat a reality is to build it ourselves. So we can’t help but wonder… Do we have what it takes? And more importantly, is this something we're willing to undertake?

To find answers to our questions, I go to Kent Island, where our friends Matt and Jessica are in the process of building a 45-foot catamaran from a Max Cruise kit. It’s an impressive endeavour, no doubt.

I'm eager to learn firsthand what it's like to embark on the adventure of building a boat on your own. The guys put me straight to work to give me the most realistic experience possible, which was a lot of fun (sort of).

It takes so much commitment, dedication, and skill to build a boat DIY. But guys; it’s their dream! And they know they can make it a reality. Cudos to them!

Finally, and more more importantly, I get to meet Georgie, Matt and Jessica’s cat, after eight long years.
