departure from Bermuda, tomorrow Sunday 27th of June

Well, it looks like waiting an extra week to depart from Bermuda seems to have paid off!

The Easterly winds (coming from the East) that would have had us sailing upwind to the Azores seemed to have been in full force this last week, but the Westerlies (coming from the West) that make this passage comfortable by offering great downwind sailing conditions are making a comeback this week.

Hurray!

This was last week's forecast, and the low pressure system that we avoided by waiting, versus....

The forecast we will be departing with. As you can see, the winds come from the West and the sailing should be good!

We will depart with low to no wind on a beam reach/upwind, and will probably be motoring for a couple of days before catching those Westerly winds that may have us on a rhumb line towards Bermuda.

As usual, the forecast can be quite different from the actual conditions offshore (especially with a weaker, more Northern jet-stream), but we have a lot more confidence departing with this forecast versus what we were seeing exactly a week ago.

Today we are taking care of the last-minute preps, before checking out of Bermuda tomorrow morning and finally heading out to see again!

As usual, you can follow our live position and our progress on our offshore blog via our Predict Wind tracker :)

Allo Anett?! I think we are finally ready to go!!!

Polar Seal is getting impatient to head offshore as well!
